How to clean and maintain an industrial camera
1. Do not touch the surface of the camera lens with your fingersWhether you are cleaning or using it normally, you should keep the edge of the lens in hand and never touch the lens surface with your fingers. The camera lens is a very precise component. The surface is treated with an anti-reflection coating. Touching the lens with your finger will cause grease and fingerprints on the lens surface, which is harmful to the coating and affects the use of industrial cameras.
2. Selection of cleaning utensils
Generally speaking, compressed air is sufficient to remove all impurities inside the chip of industrial cameras, but it is not suitable to use compressed air of spray type, because this spray often contains water, oil and other substances that may damage the surface of the chip. At the same time, microfibers can penetrate the surface of the lens to remove impurities, which can achieve the purpose of completely removing impurities. For cleaning industrial cameras, you can choose pure alcohol with a concentration of more than 90%, but be careful not to use isopropyl alcohol, because isopropyl alcohol will absorb moisture in the air and leave liquid traces on the sensor surface.
Note: Do not handle industrial camera lenses with metal tools or pliers. Use wooden, bamboo, and plastic tools to avoid scratches.
3. Cleaning requirements for different stains
1) Lens dust: You can use a lens pen, which is specially designed for optical lenses. It should not be used on wet surfaces or mixed with lens water and lens cleaning fluid. Lens stains: Disposable professional lens wipes (mirror wipes) are recommended. Remove with a dust blower. And do not use volatile solvents such as alcohol, gasoline or thinner, otherwise the surface gloss will be damaged. It is important to note that you must not use metal tools or pliers to handle the lens, otherwise it will leave scratches on its surface.
2) Fingerprints or dust on the camera: blow by air or wipe with a soft, dry cloth. If the camera is very stubborn: Use a cloth dipped in a mild detergent and wipe dry. Do not use volatile solvents such as benzine or thinner, as this will damage the surface gloss.
3) Body gap: Use a clean cotton swab to clean the camera gap. Use a pointed cleaning cotton swab to dip a small amount of cleaning solution and wipe gently along the edge of the button or dial. If there are fingerprints or dust on the camera, wipe it with a soft, dry cloth, and wipe the body with a soft, dry cloth. If the contamination is very stubborn, use a cloth dampened with a neutral detergent and wipe it dry.
4) Sensor: General dust can be treated with air blow. Blow the air as close as possible to the sensor to better blow away the dust. In the face of stubborn oily dust, air blow cannot be blown away. At this time, a cleaning rod can be used. (Jelly pen with sticky tip) for processing.
5) Small lens: You can use a hand-held vacuum pen.
4. Keep the lens on a soft surface
Keep the lens on a soft surface, especially if the optical surface is convex, resting on a hard tabletop can cause scratches on the surface.
5. Put the lens cap on when not in use, keep it well
For industrial lens systems or assemblies, attaching the lens cap to protect the optical surface from damage when not in use. If you do not use the camera for a long time, it is best to store it in a sealed package after removing the battery, if it can be equipped with a moisture-proof box. In addition, do not put unwrapped lenses together in a box or bag or under a heavy object to avoid damage.
